ASUS OLED laptops maintain a 100% DCI-P3 color gamut at both high and low brightness levels, while on a standard LCD laptop the color gamut is reduced dramatically at low brightness levels. At a gray-level brightness of 16 G, LCD laptops only have an 11% DCI-P3 color gamut, while ASUS OLED laptops maintain a 100% DCI-P3 color gamut.

PERCEPTUAL BRIGHTNESS - OLED has much higher perceptual brightness
On conventional LCD displays, detail and color quality usually decrease dramatically as the brightness is reduced. But ASUS OLED laptops are able to show great detail at lower brightness settings due to their high contrast and their ability to maintain a wide color gamut at low brightness. ASUS OLED laptops can maintain good color reproduction at any brightness level, so you can freely adjust the screen’s brightness to suit your working environment, while still enjoying exceptionally vivid colors. For example, in the living room environment (usually illuminated at about 100 lux), you only need 177 nits brightness in an OLED display to produce the same clear image as 400 nits brightness in an LCD display. At the lower brightness levels needed on OLED displays, there’s less harmful blue light emitted.

70% reduction in blue light emissions for eye protection
It is known that blue light can produce a high level of visual discomfort and can affect the quality of sleep. However, due to the specific nature of the special organic materials used for lighting in an OLED display, ASUS laptops with OLED displays emit 70% less harmful blue light2, while being TÜV Rheinland and SGS certified. And more importantly, unlike traditional blue light filters, spectrum modification does not affect color accuracy at all.

Eye protection, even more important for children
Because children's eyes are not fully developed, with a much more transparent cornea and lens, harmful blue light can penetrate the eyes more easily and potentially cause premature aging of the retina.

Less blue light, better eye protection
Research studies have shown that, in the case of the eyes of a 5-year-old child, approximately 60% of the blue light emissions received pass through the retina, compared to only around 20% in the case of a 60-year-old adult. With the help of OLED displays from ASUS, blue light levels are significantly reduced, thus providing a significantly higher level of protection for children's eyes.

OLED has a color volume 1.6x higher compared to LCD
In the case of conventional LCD displays, details and color quality decrease dramatically as the brightness is reduced. However, ASUS OLED laptops offer a very high level of detail at low brightness levels, thanks to the high level of contrast and the ability to cover an extended color gamut. When calculating 3D color volume — which adds illumination to the 2D color gamut — ASUS OLED displays have approximately 60% more color volume, delivering better color performance at any brightness level.
